Throughout my life, I’ve looked into different religions, and a half a century in, I still get confused. But one thing I have known all along, and becomes more apparent as the years go by, is that you draw into your life, what you focus your thoughts and energy on.
That’s not to say that if you stay positive, nothing bad will ever happen to you. Life is full of hardships, but it truly is where you focus your energy during those hardships, that determines what you attract into your life.
These past few years have been brutal for me, and this past year, has been brutal for all of us. In the past few years, I have lost my younger brother, mother, and a precious childhood friend, in addition to five family pets. Due to the pandemic, I lost the radio station that I invested my life savings in, and worked feverishly to launch in 2019, and on top of all that, I had to face the end of an on-again, off-again relationship I’ve had for the last three decades. We’ve lost so many fellow Americans recently to gun violence, as well as a relentless pandemic. It can all seem like too much at times.
“Match the frequency of the reality you want, and you cannot help but get that reality,” said Albert Einstein. Can this really be true? And how do we match the frequency of the reality we really want when life events, out of our control, happen?
I have learned over the years, that it truly is, how you deal with those life events, that determines how the rest of your life plays out. So, I’m allowing myself to grieve the losses, but I try to focus on the good memories, and the important lessons they taught me. And that love thing – that’s a tough one. Sometimes it’s really difficult to focus on the good parts of the relationship you had to let go, when your heart is aching so badly, and the distance and loss haunts you.
Here’s where it’s so important to focus on tuning into the right frequency. If you wallow in your grief and loss, and allow your anger to take over, that’s the reality you will keep creating.
But if you can keep re-tuning your frequency to love, gratitude, and abundance, that will be the reality you create. Focus on the love you feel, not the loss. Be grateful for the lessons these hardships are teaching you. Understand that everyone is going through life just like you are, and give forgiveness a chance.
Life is full of ups and downs, and tuning into the right frequency won’t keep the downs from happening, but you will be better equipped to handle them when they do arise, and you’ll be able to enjoy your life and the people around you, in spite of them.
